WEIGHT SELECTION BY APPLICATION
A 20kg to 30kg base suits standard centre pole parasols up to 3 metres in domestic gardens and patios. A 40kg to 60kg base is recommended for larger centre pole parasols and light cantilever systems. Bases from 70kg to 120kg are specified for large cantilever parasols in commercial, hospitality and high-wind environments where maximum ballast and stability are required.
FINISH SUITABILITY BY SETTING
Polished finish suits contemporary commercial settings such as hotel terraces and upscale restaurant outdoor areas where a refined aesthetic is preferred. Honed finish is recommended for general outdoor use — it offers a clean, matte appearance with better slip resistance when wet. Textured finish is best suited for traditional garden settings, rustic outdoor spaces and high-traffic commercial environments where surface durability is the priority.
WEATHER SUITABILITY
Granite is naturally dense, non-porous when sealed and highly resistant to weathering. Granite umbrella bases perform reliably in hot, humid, wet and cold climates. All bases are sealed during manufacturing for added weather resistance. For long-term outdoor performance, particularly in coastal or high-rainfall environments, periodic resealing is recommended. The cross-groove underside channels rainwater away from beneath the base, preventing pooling and surface staining.
MOBILITY AND PLACEMENT
Bases without wheels are suited to permanent or semi-permanent placement on level paved or decked surfaces. Wheeled bases are recommended for settings where the umbrella position needs to be adjusted seasonally or daily — such as restaurant terraces, pool decks and domestic patios. Locking castors ensure stability when the base is in use. Wheels are available and recommended on all bases 30kg and above.

INSTALLATION NOTES
Granite umbrella bases require no fixing to the ground surface and are designed to function as freestanding ballast. Place on a firm, level surface for optimal stability. The cross-shaped groove on the underside accommodates the mounting bracket and allows the parasol pole to be bolted or screwed securely into position. The groove also routes electrical wiring for LED-lit parasol systems and channels rainwater away from beneath the base. Ensure the pole diameter matches the base hole specification before ordering — standard hole diameter is 48mm with custom diameters available on request. No adhesive or permanent fixing is required for standard installation.

Installation
No permanent ground fixing required. Place on a firm level surface. Insert pole through centre hole. Seat mounting bracket in the cross groove and bolt into place. For LED parasols route wiring through groove before securing pole.

No — we manufacture and supply the granite base only. The base is compatible with any standard umbrella or parasol pole.
Why does the base have a + groove underneath?
The groove on the underside of our granite umbrella base serves four purposes — it channels electrical wiring for LED-lit parasols, drains rainwater away, distributes structural load evenly for stability, and houses the mounting bracket when bolting your parasol pole securely in place.
What size granite umbrella base do I need?
As a general rule, match the base weight to your parasol size. 30kg suits most standard 2.5-3m parasols. For cantilever parasols, always go 60kg or above.
Do you offer custom sizes?

Which finish is most durable outdoors?
Textured and honed finishes are most practical outdoors as they show less weathering and are less slippery when wet compared to polished.
